Will There Be Early Online Sportsbook Registration Offers in North Carolina?

Online sports betting has been legalized in North Carolina, and anticipation is running high over when the first mobile wagers can be placed in the Old North State. That won’t occur until 2024, with the law specifying Jan. 8 as the earliest possible date. But once operators earn approval to operate in North Carolina, get ready to lay the groundwork for those wagers to come.

To be clear: there will be no legal North Carolina sports betting sites until the launch date in 2024. But once the state’s lottery commission begins awarding licenses to the sportsbooks that will operate in the state, sports bettors may be able to take part in a preregistration process that gets all the formalities out of the way ahead of time, so you’re ready to start wagering when the state waves the green flag in 2024.

This type of early registration process is routine in the sports betting industry, and betting sites are likely to offer North Carolina sportsbook promos as an incentive to get signed up early. While we don’t yet know what those will be, we can look at other states to get an idea. What Has To Happen First

Of course, the state of North Carolina has to do its part first. As of Fall 2023, state regulators were finalizing rules for sports betting and had not yet begun the process of accepting license applications.
